Characteristics of PE Plastic

PE (Polyethylene) is a flexible plastic resin with a semi-transparent white crystalline structure. It is known for its excellent flexibility, durability, and resistance to moisture. In addition, PE offers outstanding electrical insulation, thermal insulation, and waterproof properties. As a result, PE-based products are widely used in food packaging films, product wrapping materials, plastic bottles, electrical cable insulation, and construction materials.

PE exhibits strong chemical resistance and does not react with acidic or alkaline solutions, potassium permanganate, or bromine under normal conditions. Chemically, it belongs to the family of saturated hydrocarbons, making it stable and reliable for a wide range of industrial applications.

At elevated temperatures, PE remains insoluble in water, fatty alcohols, and solvents such as acetone. At temperatures above 70°C, it shows only limited solubility in certain organic solvents, including mineral oils, xylene, and toluene. These characteristics contribute to its durability and suitability for various packaging and industrial uses.

Applications of PE Plastic

Thanks to its superior moisture resistance and waterproof properties, PE is extensively used in the food, beverage, chemical, and packaging industries. One of its most common applications is the manufacturing of plastic bottles, bottle caps, flexible packaging, and protective films.

PE maintains its flexibility even at low temperatures and is considered safe for consumer use due to its non-toxic nature. This makes it an ideal material for food packaging and other consumer products that require both safety and durability.

In addition, PE is more cost-effective than many other plastic materials, making it a preferred choice for manufacturers. It is widely used in the production of plastic films, shopping bags, packaging bags, agricultural films, and various customized packaging solutions for both industrial and commercial applications.
