Description

Characteristics of PE Plastic

PE (Polyethylene) is a flexible plastic resin with a semi-transparent white crystalline structure. It possesses excellent electrical insulation, thermal insulation, and water-resistant properties. As a result, PE is widely used in the production of food wrapping films, packaging materials, bottles, electrical cable insulation, and construction materials.

PE is highly resistant to chemical reactions with acidic and alkaline solutions, potassium permanganate, and bromine. Chemically, it belongs to the family of saturated hydrocarbons.

At elevated temperatures, PE remains insoluble in water, fatty alcohols, and solvents such as acetone. At temperatures above 70°C, it exhibits limited solubility in certain solvents, including mineral oils, xylene, and toluene.

Applications of PE Plastic

Thanks to its excellent moisture resistance and waterproof properties, PE is widely used in the food, beverage, and chemical packaging industries. One of its most common applications is the manufacturing of plastic bottles, bottle caps, and various packaging products.

PE also maintains its flexibility even at low temperatures and is safe for consumer use. In addition, its relatively low production cost compared to many other plastics makes it a preferred material for manufacturing plastic films, shopping bags, packaging bags, and other flexible packaging solutions.
