Description

Characteristics of PE Plastic

PE (Polyethylene) is a flexible plastic resin with a semi-transparent, white crystalline structure. It offers excellent electrical insulation, thermal insulation, and water resistance. As a result, PE-based products are widely used in food packaging films, product wrapping, bottles, electrical cable insulation, and construction materials.

PE is highly resistant to chemical reactions with acidic and alkaline solutions, potassium permanganate, and bromine. Chemically, it belongs to the family of saturated hydrocarbons.

At normal conditions, PE is insoluble in water, fatty alcohols, and solvents such as acetone. At temperatures above 70°C, it exhibits limited solubility in certain solvents, including mineral oils, xylene, and toluene.

Applications of PE Plastic

Thanks to its outstanding moisture and water resistance, PE is widely used in the food, beverage, and chemical packaging industries. One of its most common applications is the production of plastic bottles, bottle caps, and various types of packaging materials.

PE also retains its flexibility even at low temperatures and is considered safe for consumers. In addition, its relatively low cost compared to many other plastics makes it a preferred material for manufacturing plastic films, shopping bags, packaging bags, and other flexible packaging products.
